Vitamin and trace element requirements of poultry can be just partially met with feed ingredients; hence, they are added separately in a guaranteed quantity as blends and premixes.
Premixes are homogeneous mixtures of biologically active substances (vitamins, minerals and trace elements, antioxidants, antibacterial agents, amino acids, flavours and enzymes) in optimum quantities and proportions to fillers. They are used to prevent vitamin and trace element deficiencies, improve feed digestibility, fertility and viability of poultry, as well as egg and meat quality.
Biologically active substances are vitamins A, D3, E, K, B1, B2, B3, B4 (choline chloride), B5 (PP), B6, Bc (folic acid), H (biotin); chlorides or sulphates of trace elements, such as manganese, zinc, iron, copper, cobalt, iodine, selenium; and enzymes. Vitamins and trace elements are essential substances for poultry. Their deficiencies result in metabolic disorders, reduced disease resistance, growth retardation, and depressed reproductive performance.
