25 July 2023: Packaging Predictions
Our disinfectant, Omnicide, produced by Coventry Chemicals, UK, is DEFRA approved. This esteemed recognition stands as a testament to the product's exceptional performance and its compliance with a wide range of stringent requirements.
Omnicide underwent rigorous testing, meeting DEFRA's standards across various critical fronts, including efficacy and performance against specific Animal Disease Orders, such as Foot and Mouth disease (FMDV), Swine Vesicular disease (SVDV), Diseases of Poultry Order and Avian Influenza and Influenza of Avian Origin in Mammals Order (DoP, AI&IAOM), Tuberculosis Order (TB), and General Orders (GO) for approval.
In addition to meeting DEFRA's specific disease-related orders, Omnicide also adheres to other regulatory and safety criteria mandated by DEFRA. This includes compliance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards, such as Chemicals legislation, Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures Regulation (CLP Regulation), ensuring that the product upholds the highest standards of safety and effectiveness.
As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping you informed about industry developments, we'd like to share recent news from the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs published on the 25th of July 2023. In response to the economic context and to ease the burden on consumers and businesses, new rules requiring packaging producers to cover the cost of recycling their packaging will now be deferred for a year, moving from October 2024 to 2025.
The additional time will enable productive discussions with industry stakeholders, leading to potential cost reductions during implementation. In preparation for this change, producers have already begun adopting sustainable practices, reducing packaging and embracing easier-to-recycle formats, with the ultimate goal of minimizing any potential impact on households.
In light of these developments, we are pleased to inform our valued customers that Omnicide's packaging will remain unaffected in the coming year. However, we are resolute in our dedication to environmental responsibility and look forward to exploring new, eco-friendly packaging solutions in the future, should the need arise.
